Description: Located deep within the Ocala National Forest, Kerr City once had a thriving citrus industry until back-to-back frosts in the late 1800's doomed the town. After the last frost, the town was abandoned and left to ruin. The town founder, George Smiley, slowly bought up all the property in the area and passed it on down the family line. Arthur Brennan, the grandson of the town's founder, is now the current owner of Kerr City, He, along with his wife, take care of and restore the old houses as needed and rent them to visitors as summer houses.
